With the International Workshop on Functional Materials first started in 2012, this year it marks the fifth workshop in the University of Macau, this series of workshop were launched off by Chair Professor Haydn Chen of Institute of Applied Physics and Materials Engineering (IAPME) as the principal organizer since its inception.

This year, IWFM 2016 is especially grateful to the Department of Materials Science and Engineering of the Chiao Tung University, Taiwan, that continues to be the co-organizer for the second year in a row.

Considering the importance of functional materials, this workshop aims to bring together the experts on functional materials to share their latest research achievements and to enable exchange of ideas on the topic.  Functional materials are found in all classes of materials: ceramics, metals, polymers and composites. They are generally characterized as materials which possess particular native properties and functions of their own, for example: ferroelectricity, piezoelectricity, magnetism and energy storage functions, to name a few.

Experts will be coming from different countries and regions which had included in the past workshops scholars from Australia, Japan, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, USA, etc.  This workshop has drawn much attention given the increasing number of participants in the previous workshops.

Your participation is highly appreciated and we looking forward to seeing you there!
