On 22 January, Prof. Xingguo Li from Peking University (北京大學化學與分子工程學院 李星國教授) was invited to givea talk on plasma processed inorganic nanostructures for energy storage applications.
During this talk, it was discussed that one essential issue in developing energy storage materials is the rational design of their nanoscale structure, because the nanoscale structure is strongly correlated to the energy storage properties such as capacity, kinetics and stability. Prof. Li demonstrated that due to the unique plasma chemistry processes and plasma-surface interaction, plasma exhibits special effects in controlling the nanoscale structure. The results suggest that plasma assisted techniques are very versatile in preparing nanostructures for hydrogen storage and lithium battery applications.
Xingguo Li is Professor and Director of New Energy and Nano materials Laboratory, Chair of the Inorganic Chemistry Institute at Peking University. He is also a guest professor of Hiroshima University (Japan). His research interests focus on hydrogen storage materials, hydrogen generation and purification, battery electrode materials and nano materials. He has carried out more than 40 projects supported by NSFC, MOE, MOST and other organizations and companies as well as Japanese NEDO. Prof. Li has already published more than 300 papers in top journals such as Energy Environ. Sci., Angew. Chem., Adv. Mater., Nano Letter, ACS Nano, Nano Energy, et al. He has received the National Distinguished Young Investigator Fund (2000), Lectureship Award of Japan Research Institute of Material Technology (2002) and GM foundation Science & Technology Achievement Award (2005).
The talk was in E12 building, room G004 and Prof. Shao chaired this seminar.
