On 28 December, Dr. Jinlong ZHENG from University of Science and Technology Beijing gave a talk entitled “Nickel Based Nanomaterials: Controllable Synthesis and Applications“. At the seminar, Dr. Zheng introduced his work on structural engineering of nickel-based materials. His group synthesized hierarchical structures, including bowl-like NPs, core-shell NPs, and hollow NPs; polyhedrons, such as octahedrons and cubes; array structures such as belt arrays and wire arrays. These nickel-based materials are used in the fields of clean energies. Bowl-like, core-shell and hollow NPs are used as the anode materials for Li/Na ion batteries; Octahedrons and cubes are used as the counter electrode materials for DSSCs, belt arrays and wire arrays are used as the catalytic materials for water splitting.
Dr. Zheng is a lecturer at School of Mathematics and Physics, University of Science and Technology Beijing (USTB), since 2018. He received his Ph.D. degree from Beihang University under the supervision of Prof. Lin Guo in 2016. He did postdocs and funded by Post-doctoral Innovative Talent Support Program at Beihang University from 2016 to 2018. He worked as a visiting scholar in Prof. Hui Ying Yang’s lab at Singapore University of Technology and Design from 08/2019 to 01/2020. His research focuses on the design and preparation of high-performance electrode materials for applications in energy and catalysis. Currently Dr. Zheng is one visiting scholar in Prof. Shao’s group.
