On 18th September, Prof. Juncong SHE from Sun Yat-sen University, was invited to give a talk entitled “Si Based Vacuum Micro/Nano Electronic Devices”. Prof. SHE introduced the history and state-of-the-art technologies related with the field of vacuum micro/nano electronic devices and indicated their current/potential applications. Also, he presented the recent breakthrough in his research group about the development of well reliable and high performance silicon based vacuum micro/nano electron sources for potential application on minimized space devices. The fundamental and physical insight in the field-induced electron emission was also briefly discussed in the talk.

Prof. Juncong SHE graduated from Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU) with Degrees of BSc and PhD in Physics at 1997 and 2005, respectively. In 2001-2002, he has been to the Central Microstructure Facility of Rutherford Appleton Laboratory in the UK for academic visiting and joined the project in developing high performance field electron emission devices for minimized space device application. He is currently a distinguished (with Pearl River Scholars) full professor at the State Key Laboratory of Optoelectronic Materials and Technologies in SYSU. His research interests include micro/nano-fabrication techniques/processing and vacuum micro/nano electronics for modern applications (minimized space instruments and ultra-high speed transistor). He has published 176 peer reviewed papers in leading scientific journals/conferences (cited times: 1476).
