On 30 October, Prof. Tao LI, from Dongguan University of Technology, gave a presentation entitled “Growth by TSSG and Characterization of Some Ternary Ferroelectric Single Crystals”. During this seminar, Prof. LI introduced the piezoelectric materials. These are at the heart of electro-mechanical devices, such as medical imaging transducer, high intensity focused ultrasound, industrial nondestructive evaluation, and piezoelectric sensors, etc. The advantages and disadvantages of some ternary piezoelectric materials were discussed, focusing on the recent developments of high-performance relaxor-PbTiO3 ferroelectric single crystals.
