Invited by Prof. Songnan Qu, Prof. Wenhao Li (李文昊), a Professor at the Changchun Institute of Optics, Fine Mechanics and Physics (CIOMP), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), visited IAPME on January 21, 2026, as part of the IAPME Seminar Series. During his visit, he gave an impressive talk on the large area high-precision diffraction grating.
Prof. Li is the recipient of the Youth Science Fund (Class A) of NSFC and the Chief Scientist of Key Research and Development Program of the Ministry of Science and Technology. He has published over 100 papers in top journals such as Light: Science & Applications. He has been granted over 50 patents, including 5 US patents. As the first author, he has won multiple honors including the First Prize for Technological Invention of the China Instrument and Control Society and the First Prize for Scientific and Technological Progress of Jilin Province.
In his talk, Prof. Li introduced the basic principles and development history of gratings to the faculty and students of IAPME. He vividly described the series of original achievements his research group has made in high-precision grating displacement measurement technology and the theoretical and technical research on the fabrication of large-area, high-precision gratings. Compared with the latest products from other commercial companies worldwide, the large-area gratings fabricated by Prof. Li’s team have significantly higher precision. Finally, Prof. Li also introduced the situation at the CIOMP Grating Center.
After the seminar, Prof. Qu introduced the development history of IAPME and the current research directions of IAPME’s academic staff to Prof. Li and his delegation, and discussed future cooperation.
