  • 2023-01 Dr. Shao’s  joint grant applications (0090 0090/2022/AFJ and  0026/2022/AMJ) were officially approved by FDCT (澳門科學技術發展基金) under FDCT-NSFC and FDCT-MOST programs . The total approved budget for Macau side is 4,300,000 MOP (ca. 540,000 million USD).

  • 2021-05 Guo Junpo’s paper “Silicon-based lithium ion battery system: state of the art from half and full cell viewpoint” was accepted for publication at Advanced Functional Materials. (Year 2020 Impact Factor 18.808). Prof. Hong Guo as the co-supervisor is one co-corresponding author in UM.
  • 2021-05 Bao Xiaozhi’s paper “Two-Dimensional Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8+δ Nanosheets for Ultrafast Photonics and Optoelectronics” was accepted for publication at ACS Nano. (Year 2020 Impact Factor 14.588). Prof. Xing Guichuan also contributed a lot to this work.
  • 2021-04 Prof. Shao’s joint paper with Prof. Li Qian at Shanghai University received Best Paper Award of the Journal from Journal of Magnesium and Alloys (IF:7.115).

  • 2021-01 Zhao Huajun’s paper “Gas Generation Mechanism in Li-Metal Batteries” was accepted for publication at  Energy & Environmental Materials. (The new IF in the coming June should be > 14).
  • 2021-01 Zheng Yun’s paper “Advanced Sensitivity Amplification Strategies for Voltammetric Immunosensors of Tumor Marker: State of the Art” was accepted for publication at Biosensors and Bioelectronics. (Year 2020 Impact Factor 10.257). Prof. Ian Hou and Prof. Zhou Binpu in this institute are important corresponding authors.
  • 2020-09 Yu Xueqing was selected as Student of the Year (2019-2020) in Lab of Energy Storage Materials and Systems based on the scientific research achievement, self-development and service contribution to the group.
  • 2020-07 Yu Xueqing’s research paper “Integrating PtNi Nanoparticles on NiFe Layered Double Hydroxide Nanosheets as Bifunctional Catalyst for Hybrid Sodium-Air Batteries” was accepted for publication at Journal of Materials Chemistry A. (Year 2019 Impact Factor 11.301). This work was mainly collaborated with Prof. HUI Kwun Nam in this institute.
  • 2020-02 Dr. Shao’s joint publication (with Prof. Ouyang, Prof. Zhu at SCUT and Prof. Zhenguo Huang from University of Technology Sydney) on closing the loop for hydrogen storage: Facile regeneration of NaBH4 from its hydrolytic product was accepted by  Angewandte Chemie International Edition (Year 2018 Impact Factor 12.257).
  • 2019-12 Dr. Shao’s  joint grant application on “Development of key technologies for soft-packed Lithium-ion batteries for wearable electronic products” was officially approved by FDCT (澳門科學技術發展基金) under FDCT-GDST program after initial agreement notice. The Project No. is 0019/2019/AGJ, 2020-2022. and the approval budget for Macau side is 1,170,000 MOP (~146,000 USD).
  • 2019-10 Li Jianding’s research paper “Rational Design of 3D N-doped Carbon Nanosheet Framework Encapsulated Ultrafine ZnO Nanocrystals as Superior Performance Anode Materials in Lithium Ion Batteries” was accepted for publication at Journal of Materials Chemistry A. (Year 2018 Impact Factor 10.733).
  • 2019-09 Prof. Shao’s  grant application on “A Exploratory Research on All-solid-state Mg Battery: Metastable Mg Nano Alloys as Cathode and MgB12H12-based Compounds as Solid Electrolyte” was approved from University of Macau (Project No.: MYRG2019-00055-IAPME) with a budget of  750,000 MOP (~93,000 USD) starting from 2020.01 to 2021.12.
  • 2019-07 Dr. Shao’s joint publication (with Prof. Ouyang, Prof. Zhu at SCUT and Dr. Zhang from Southeast U.) on enabling super facile synthesis of LiBH4 by converting cheap H+ from coordinated water into expensive H of LiBH4 was accepted by Green Chemistry (Year 2018 Impact Factor 9.405).
  • 2019-04 Our invited review paper  “Progress and Trends in Magnesium-based Materials for Energy Storage Research: A Review” published at Energy Technology (Wiley) has been selected as “Best of 2018” based upon the download and citation numbers as well as the opinions and feedback of the editorial office of the journal.   • 2019-03 Dr. Shao’s joint publication (with Prof. Ouyang at SCUT and Dr. Michael Felderhoff at Max-Planck-Institut für Kohlenforschung, Germany) on development of regeneration of spent NaBH4 with Mg-Al alloys was accepted by Journal of Materials Chemistry A (Year 2018 Impact Factor 10.733).

  • 2019-01 Our invited review paper  “Progress and Trends in Magnesium-based Materials for Energy Storage Research: A Review” published at Energy Technology (by Wiley) has been marked by Web of Science as “Highly Cited Paper“.
  • 2018-11 Dr. Shao’s collaboration work (with Prof. Ouyang, et al. in SCUT ) on promoting hydrogen generation from the hydrolysis of Mg-graphite composites by plasma-assisted milling, has been accepted by Energy for publication (Y2017 Impact Factor 4.968). 
  • 2018-10  The book Hydrogen Storage: Preparation, Applications and Technology (ISBN: 978-1-53614-220-4) which Prof. Shao is contributing to as the sole editor, has been published by Nova Science publisher (New York, USA). The hard copy is available on Amazon now.
  • 2018-09 Dr. Shao’s  grant application on “Metastable Ti-V-C Based Nano Alloys with NaCl-type Lattice for Innovative Lithium-Ion Battery Anode Materials Development” was officially approved by FDCT (澳門科學技術發展基金) after initial agreement notice in July. The Project No. is 0062/2018/A2, 2018-2021. and the approval budget is 1,788,000 MOP (~221,000 USD).
  • 2018-06 We developed a high performance solid electrolyte-Na3NH2B12H12 for all-solid-state Na ion battery, and this work was recently accepted for publication by Journal of Power Sources (Year 2017 Impact Factor 6.945). Here we present a novel Na+ conductor based on complex hydrides with composition of Na3NH2B12H12. It exhibits remarkable thermal stability up to 593 K and excellent electrochemical stable window up to 10 V (vs. Na+/Na). It demonstrates a high Na+ conductivity of 1.0×10-4 S cm-1 at a temperature of 372 K, which is much higher than those of its precursors NaNH2 and Na2B12H12. This work opens the gate to develop advanced solid electrolytes via combination of metal amides with closo borates. This work was collaborated with Southern University of Science and Technology, Kyushu University (Japan), Université catholique de Louvain (Belgium), Jinan University, etc. Prof. Hai-Feng Li from IAPME contributed structural analysis to this work.
  • 2018-05 Two papers from Bo Li and Jianding Li were accepted and will be published in the issue of Next-Generation Energy Storage Materials Explored by Advanced Scanning Techniques, special issue for Scanning. Dr. Shao is serving as the lead guest editor for this special issue. Scanning is  run by Wiley and Hindawi.
  • 2018-02 The PhD candidate in Dr. Shao’s group-Mr. Jiandian Li’s first paper  “Catalysis and Downsizing in Mg-based Hydrogen Storage Materials” has been accepted by Catalysts for publication (Y2017 Impact Factor 3.465). In this invited review work, we summarize some advances in the development of the Mg-based hydrogen storage materials related to the downsizing and catalysis. Especially, how downsizing and catalyst could affect the hydrogen storage capacity, kinetics and thermodynamics of the Mg-based hydrogen storage materials is focused.
  • 2018-01 Dr. Shao’s collaboration work (with Prof. Lu, Prof. Deng, Dr. He in SUSTC and Prof. Li in Kyushu University) on a facile solvent-free synthesis of NaBH4 and Na2B12H12 composite for solid state ion conducting materials, has been accepted by Inorganica Chimica Acta for publication (Y2017 Impact Factor 2.264). 
  • 2018-01 Two submitted book chapters from Dr. Shao’s group were accepted for publication. One is “Nanostructured Mg-based Hydrogen Storage Materials: Synthesis and Properties” for the book of Hydrogen Storage Technologies by Wiley-Scrivener (MA, USA); the other one is “Nano Processing in Mg-based Hydrogen Storage Materials: Research Progress and Trends” for New Trends in Nanotechnology, Material and Environmental Sciences by AV Akademikerverlag, Germany.
  • 2018-01 Dr. Shao’s PhD advisor-Prof. Xingguo Li from Peking University (北京大學化學與分子工程學院 李星國教授) will visit UM and give an IAPME invited seminar on Jan. 22 (11:00-12:00, E12-G004). Your attendance would be highly appreciated!
  • 2017-12 Dr. Shao’s joint collaboration work with Prof. Ouyang at SCUT on development of Mg-Mg2Si composite for low-cost and high-capacity onsite hydrogen supply was accepted by International Journal of Hydrogen Energy (Year 2017 Impact Factor 4.229).
  • 2017-11 Dr. Shao’s work on computational heat simulation on Mg/MgH2-SOFC (solid oxide fuel cell) for future energy storage and materials development of the Mg-based hydrogen storage materials for this concept was accepted by Energies (Year 2017 Impact Factor 2.676). Dr. Shao was the first in the world to propose this Mg/MgH2-SOFC concept for energy storage application in which waste heat from the SOFC is supplied to fill the endothermic heat by the hydrogen desorption for the MgH2 materials and increase the overall efficiency through recovery usage of the SOFC exhaust heat. This idea was first introduced in Dr. Shao’s publication in Nano Energy in 2012(Year 2017 Impact Factor 13.12, cited times from Web of Science: 72).
  • 2017-10 Dr. Shao is working as the editor for Nova Science publisher (New York, USA) on a book entitled “Hydrogen Storage: Preparation, Applications and Technology”. The call for review book chapter is open now and the deadline for the chapter submission is Jan. 2018.
  • 2017-08 Dr. Shao’s joint publication with Prof. Ouyang at SCUT on development of flower-like MoS2 nanocatalyst for enhancement of hydrolysis performannce of Mg for hydrogen generation was accepted by Journal of Power Sources (Year 2017 Impact Factor 6.945). This Mg-MoS2 system is with good potential to be appliled for one-time onsite hydrogen supply.
  • 2017-08 Dr. Shao is serving in organization committee for International conference on Nanoscience & technology (New York, USA, May 2018), in advisory committee for 2018 2nd International Conference on Environmental and Energy Engineering (Xiamen, China, March 2018) and in organization committee for 3rd World Nanotechnology Summit (Bengaluru, India, Dec. 2017).
  • 2017-07 Dr. Shao’s joint work collaborated with Prof. Ouyang at SCUT  on development of NaZn(BH4)4 and its ammoniates for onsite hydrogen generation based on hydrolysis reactions was accepted by Journal of Materials Chemistry A (Year 2017 Impact Factor 9.931).
  • 2017-07 Dr. Shao’s invited paper of “Progress and Trends in Mg-based Materials for Energy Storage Research: A Review” has been accepted by Energy Technology (by Wiley-VCH) for publication (Y2017 Impact Factor 3.175).
  • 2017-07  Dr. Shao gave an invited talk at the 2017 Fimpart conference (Frontiers in Materials Processing Applications, Research and Technology) in Bordeaux, France.
  • 2017-06 Dr. Shao’s joint work (IAPME as one of the corresponding affiliations, collaborated with Prof. Ouyang at SCUT)  on development of Zr(BH4)4•8NH3 for hydrogen production was accepted by Journal of Materials Chemistry A (Year 2017 Impact Factor 9.931).
  • 2017-06 As a lead guest editor, Dr. Shao is organizing a special issue of “Next-Generation Energy Storage Materials Explored by Advanced Scanning Techniques” for the SCI journal Scanning (latest impact factor: 0.994) run by Wiley and Hindawi. The submission deadline is Nov. 24, 2017 and your contribution is welcome!
  • 2017-05 Dr. Shao’s joint publication (as one corresponding author, collaboration with Prof. Ouyang at SCUT on development of an air-stable hydrogen supply system based on MgH2-LiNH2 composites) was accepted by Journal of Power Sources (Year 2017 Impact Factor 6.945).
  • 2017-05 Dr. Shao’s work on “Facile synthesis of anhydrous Li2B12H12 with high purity by solvent-free method” has been accepted by Inorganica Chimica Acta for publication (Y2017 Impact Factor 2.264). Here we adopted a simple designed open-system way and successfully synthesized anhydrous Li2B12H12 with highest purity (93%) in comparison with others’ previously reported work. Li2B12H12 is one of the most promising lithium ion conducting complex compounds.
  • 2017-04 Dr. Shao’s first IAPME affiliated publication (as one corresponding author, joint paper with Prof. Ouyang at SCUT on development of novel Mo-based catalysts for Mg hydrogen production) was accepted by Journal of Materials Chemistry A (Year 2017 Impact Factor 9.931).
  • 2017-03 Dr. Shao’s  grant application on development of Mg-based hydrogen storage system for renewable energy storage was funded by FDCT (澳門科學技術發展基金).
  • 2017-03  Dr. Shao will give an invited talk for the ESC 2017 – the 4th International Expo and Conference on Energy Storage in China.
